Casino v Bingo - No competition!

After a knackering week at work including staying late on Friday to write reports I arrived home to have a quick turn around to go back out to the casino. To be honest it was the last thing I wanted to be doing, the activity that was in first place on my list was sleeping! We had had a tour around the casino after an evening at the bingo next door just before Christmas - and I have to admit I was impressed. After spending an evening with patronising but well meaning 'pat me on the head and then tick off numbers on a grid' people, I knew it wouldn't take much to make the night much more enjoyable at the casino - the fact that it was not bingo meant it had already won my vote for an evening out. So in comparison:
  • Bingo

  1. You have to pay the same price even if you can't mark off all 6 books, and believe me SMA and bingo just do not go! It doesn't take much brain power to find and mark off numbers on a grid but the speed in which the numbers are called just means it is not a pleasurable experience (my arms just would not move that fast!).
  2. The food is not nice and they give very little warning as to when the games are about to start - leaving you with indigestion, cold chips or an empty bingo card.
  3. You are sssshhed if you even try to crack a joke - a very unsociable game. What happened to all the ducks? quack quack
  4. Lots of 'pat on the head attitudes' - need I say more?

  • Casino

  1. Spend as little or as much as you like. Everyone sees the person, or should I say pounds, not the chair. Whilst playing Brag I sat between to lovely mature ladies who were happy to help me move my chips, recognising I was struggling only physically but was perfectly capable of playing the game.
  2. Lovely reasonably priced restaurant that you can sit in and discuss strategies. Free soft drinks throughout the night and waiter service (they even let us order at the Blackjack table and came to find us at the Stud Poker - now that's service!)
  3. No ssshhing here. Music in the back ground but at a level you can talk over.
  4. All staff and guests/gamblers friendly and who spoke to everyone as an equal.

I am sure I will be going back - to the Casino that is, not the bingo. For those people who think what a waste of money gambling is - my sister once told me you should only take to the casino the amount of money you are happy to lose. If you win then it's a bonus! How many people waste £30 on a night out drinking?
